Roll works, pitch doesn't

In the pre flight instructions.

http://code.google.com/p/arducopter/wiki/AC2_Preflight

It says.

  • Roll the ArduCopter to the right. The right motor command should increase. The left motor command should decrease.
  • Pitch the ArduCopter down (the front motor should be lower in position than the rear motor). The front motor command should increase. The rear motor command should decrease.

When I have the APM planner up, and showing Action/AC2 Sensor/Motors.

If I roll the frame I can see the motors change speed accordingly to correct the roll.

But, when I pitch the frame, the front and rear motors (3&4) don't move one bit.

Also, when the frame is level, motor 2 runs higher than the others.

When I monitor the sensors, using Action/AC2 Sensor/sensors they all appear to be working correctly.  I can clearly see the pitch changing.

Any clues on what to look at?

Thanks

  • Well tuning the motor controllers didn't do anything for me.

I did it manually.  At least I know its done right.

I reloaded the code and went through the setup process again.

    Its working fine now.

Stabilize roll and pitch Pid P values were 0.54 before and after the code reload.

    Thanks for all your helps.

  • Developer

Look at your PID values. I'll bet they are corrupted. probably the Pitch P value us 0.

  • Try running setup through the mission planner again. I had this problem yesterday after loading the code, no pitch response and the quad just wanted to yaw all the time. Running setup again fixed it.
  • You should calibrate CES. I had today this problem. I have calibrate CES and it works ok.
