some n00b help

Hey guys! Got my AD-8 up in the air today for a short flight. All was good but GPS hold was very BAD! Also, i need to do some PID tuning and i have NEVER done this and really cant find any good (simple) guides on PID tuning they are all very mathematical and all about the physics!

Also, does anyone know how to setup a remote PID tuning knob on my remote for the APM 2.6 like i can on the Naza M?

Any help much appreciated. Brushless gimbal is going well and had some stable footage in lots of wind today so would love to get my PIDs perfect and fly on a dead calm day!

Thanks guys!

  • Take a look here for tuning:

  • Safest way i prefered was indoor in controlled environment. was too worried of wrong pid and crash. Make sure your props are balanced, if you have the space I recommend a jig with washing line wire. Hitch the copter with the rope through only one horizontal axis, make sure they are tight and there is no slack, also some knot skills required. Usual safety precautions apply. Goggles, gloves etc. there are a few YouTube vids out there. I hitched mine between two radiators at either end of the living room. Connected remotely using telemetry and adjusted pids till it was twitch free and could recover quickly back to level/stabilise.
