Tarot Gimbal and Camera Tracking

Hi all,

I am curious about the option in the mission planner to "Point Camera Here" (Right click on the map under flight data). I am assuming that it will, using your gimbal, point the camera at the specified point in space regardless of the orientation of the copter. I have a few questions about it but I cannot seem to find any documentation about it. I've read the camera gimbal sections in the manual but they don't talk about this feature.

1. My main question/concern, is that I want tarot gimbal to do the stabilization but the APM controlling where it's pointing.

2. Is a 2D gimbal sufficient to the this feature and use the copter itself to control the yaw?

3. Is it reasonable to power the gimbal off the flight battery?

Thanks,

Ryan

  • I'm curious if you were successful.  I've been playing with this with my Photohigher gimbal, occasionally, but have not yet succeeded either.

  • A2: Yes this is implied after all the legs of a copter will eventually get in the way if a gimbal yaws about.

A3: Most gimbals like 12v or a 3S LIPO, while its often better to use a 4S to power the motors.
