throttle signal output, cut off completely

Since running 2.5.3, typically within 6min of flight, my copter consistently cuts throttle (hexa falls from the sky). I thought it was a an over or under current with an ESC, but all of them shutdown.

Then I looked at my tlog and saw this:

Any ideas what could be causing this? This is on a custom frame with Mystery 20A ESCs running at 16Khz pwm signal. Could this be EMF noise causing the APM to shutdown as I have a bus bar vs a power distribution board (and I have tie the ESC grounds back to the battery much like any power distro board).

Also, after it happens, I disarm, rearm and the unit runs fine & flies normally until the battery undervolts (expected)!

  • This same thing happened to me and was identified as a problem with an old helicopter radio I've had for years.

Turns out that the throttle potentiometer is worn out near the middle stick (hovering position). This would happen and I'd throttle back off, to prevent further damage expecting to crash.

I'm not saying this is your problem, but maybe it could relate to you or someone else having this same issue. It was fustrating till I monitored the output with an oscilliscope.

  • I had the same thing! very odd, I checked the throttle in and it responded as expected but out stayed at zero. Mine was not intermittint though. Only way was to reflash and it's been fine since.

Mine started after a crash and was only ever on the bench.

  • Looks like it maybe a receiver problem, checking ch3in vs out shows the jump, so it's leading towards the rx side.
