Using another IMU?

Hi everyone,

 

we want to use the ardupilot mega, but we found out about it only AFTER we ordered our own IMU, which is currently on the way to us.  It is this one here: http://www.robotshop.com/ca/sfe-imu-16g-triple-axis-accel-three-300-gyro-combo.html (it has a fairly standard accelerometer, the ADX345 instead of the ADX330 in the Mega breakout board).

 

Is it easy to integrate the ardupilot with another IMU, or should we just bite the bullet and get the ardupilot IMU shield?

 

If it matters, this is for a ground vehicle.

    It would involve a huge code rewrite, and you'd be cut off from future APM updates.

    Hi Mike,

     

    So you want to know if that IMU can be used with the ArduPilot Mega: https://store.diydrones.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BR-ArduP... right? Tell me what you find out because I would really like to know also, since i'm kinda in the same situation.

    Also does anyone know if there are any disadvantages of using the IMU Mike has other than the ardupilot IMU shield??
