One is an industry qualification, overseen by a skills authority. ASQA
The other is a license, overseen by a safety authority. CASA
In order to fly legally in Australia you need to have a Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) or UAV Controller Certificate (UAV CC).
Even if you have the Cert III Remote Pilot you will still have to apply to CASA for a RPC or UAV CC. You are not allowed to fly legally in Australia with only a Cert III Remote Pilot.
Also, even if you have a RPC / UAV CC (Remote Pilot) you will only be allowed to fly legally for commercial gain when you fly for a company that has an official UOC issued by CASA.
So. In order for your company to give work to a Remote Pilot your own company needs to have a UOC.
Also. Flying with a helmet / FPV is not always legal and there are more issues involved here.
Ok - That's what I thought - It does not allow you to fly an RPAS Vehicle commercially. One would still need to obtain and RPAS License from CASA.
Its imperative to present both yourself and your business operation to CASA scrutiny before any paid work, however minor the work may be. If you do not you will be breaking the law.
Yep! I know! We are an RTO for CASA in RPAS Licensing - hence my curiosity here.
I too would like to know how recognises this Cert III. As far as I know you still need a RPAS Licence from CASA to fly legally.
Are you a certified pilot, are you interested? please let us know so we can have you in our database
hi there,
yes, the company will require a licences to fly legally if the company is interested in offering chargeable services, but also requires certified pilots. please find more information here:

I think the problem here is that even if you do the course you have linked to, you are still not able to fly commercially. So (while it looks interesting) I really don't see the point of that course as you would still need an RPAS or Controller's Certificate from CASA before you can be employed by a UOC holder (or apply for your own OC)

By the way, re. "fly with helmet or goggles". Please be aware I only conduct/advocate operations IAW CASA regs. Thanks.
