The connections are different (the Pixhawk uses 6 pin "DF13" connectors), but you can still use the older telemetry/GPS with the pixhawk if you change the connectors on one end of the cable/make a new loom. I'm just starting out with the pixhawk and bought the older telemetry & GPS as they were available cheaper than the new models and found this guide on how to change the connectors http://ardupilot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=5724#p9484
