Relay switch for Gopro camera !!

Hi all ,

I need to hack Camera go pro to control throw pixhawk

I remove the power switch cover of the camera and connect it with two wires ( when connect them together ) for 3 second the camera ON when do it again the camera of .

Now Can I connect them to a relay ? and directly to pixhawk like the picture below ?

I hope my way is right ,
if so I will add another relay for start/stop recording ..

  • No it's not... that relay uses about 35mA to drive the coil. If you get that current straight from the Pixhawk I/0 pin you will damage the Pixhawk. You need to use a transistor or a Solid state relay.

  • I already open the Gopro and get out two wires for power switch just need to connect it to relay to operate throw Pixhawk

    The camera has it's own power throw it's battery ,

    the relay function is just switch to close for 3 second and release .

  • If you don't want to open the GoPro and risk damaging it, there is a way to control it using the HD bus port.
    If you google for "gopro hd bus", you can find a lot of sites showing how to control the GoPro using the HD bus, for example: http://benlo.com/msp430/GoProController.html
