New to boats looking for a hull suggestion
Hello allI have played around with fixed-wing drones before but am new to boats. I am looking to build a simple boat for the purpose of inspecting a heavily timbered section of river that it is hard to get a manned boat into and am looking for some suggestions on where to start. I don't need a sounder or overly accurate GPS (but both would be good to have). I would really like a high-resolution camera in a dome housing or similar that I could control and take photos with. It's all coming along very nice after the few setbacks you had.

thanks a lot!
@Gonzalo Yes it works great. Also see http://diydrones.com/group/ardublimp
Has anyone tried using the arduboat on a blimp? I'm pretty sure that it would work magnificently with little to no wind.
That is a big boat Tom. It is looking awesome! Can't wait to see how you mount the running gear on the inside.
Thanks, Grant.
Tom,
That doesn't look bad. You got a whole hull covered by 4 sheets of wood. Good job.

Thanks Tom. I'm impressed you could make that change - looks very fiddly. I love seeing the photo's - keep posting them as you progress if possible!
Thanks, Grant.
Tom. O.K.. I personally would glass over the exterior of the hull with epoxy and a loose fiberglass weave. Not glass from Hobbico but a 6 o.z. glass from West Marine. Just my thoughts. This could be done later on if you have problems with the hull leaking or structural problems. My hull is balsa and after glassing it over I am not afraid to hit anything. It is very solid. The two coats of resin over your hull is just for water proofing the exterior. But, I suppose the glass on the interior of the hull is meant for strength.. 6 in one hand and half a dozen in the other.

Tom,
Are you going to glass over the hull?

Great news. I'd love to see a couple of photo's of what you have done to correct the issue if possible.
cheers, Grant.
