So I am rather new to this, and have been having some trouble with the setup of my 3dr y6, 2013 model. The main issue has been that during flight it has major issues holding its heading, with respect to the yaw. This isn’t a problem all of the time but it occasionally will rotate between 30 and 60 degrees in one direction, during which time the yaw control from the remote is almost useless to counter this rotation. This tends to happen during changes in altitude, or when flying backwards but sometimes happens at what would appear to be a random point. More recently this caused a minor crash after rotating almost 300 degrees while close to the ground. (My bingeing skills piloting were unable to handle the rapid change in orientation) I have attempted to adjust the yaw control PID’s with little effect (there is a small possibility that I’m doing this wrong) and was wondering if anyone else had any ideas as to what could be causing this issue? Other than that im loving the hobby so far and this site is great for the help so thanks to everyone on here who contributes.

I have exactly the same problem, I haven't found a solution yet, if you find one please let me know.
Thanks
Can you post your logs, there might be somebody here who give you a good analysis. You may have already done this but these are things I would check for:
-One of your motors or esc may be bad or you have a loose connection
-loose prop (spinning on the prop adapter)
-FC secure and free of vibrations. (although this seems like this would yield other issues)
-compass getting interference
good luck
