Yeah I really didn't want to spend $400+. I received my order in 7 days with the expedited shipping option. Definitely concerned about the GoPro incase if a crash.. but also worried for the copter too :D. I haven't seen a gimbal that takes the GoPro with the hard shell, though.
I did not have to extend the legs, if you attach it to the top plate you'll be fine. I will take some photos and post in a little bit. took some more test video yesterday; ill get that uploaded as well.
I've done a decent amount of research, and the RCtimer was my first choice.. but then spoke to a few people who already owned it, and tried the new Tarot gimbal, and much preferred it. In the end I bought a Tarot 2D gimbal with go pro 3. The footage is AMAZING - no jello, just perfection. I was stunned. It just fits in the space in the front.

I've heard some good things in general about this one from RCTimer: http://www.rctimer.com/product_705.html
I don't know about mounting it on a Y6, might be worth a try?
I'm also thinking of what gimbal that would fit the Y6.
What do you use today, have you changed landing gear to fit a gimbal?
