A simple idea to share

I everyone. I've been playing with UAV for a couple years now and I have an idea that may make some peoples lives a little better.

I'm a little lazy, who isn't right? I have accumulated quite a few lipo batteries. Their not all the same. I do use most of them in my quadcopter. One thing I forget to do is change the parameters for my Ottopilot 90A to reflect whatever mah the next battery is that I'm about to stuff in the UAV.

Its a little tedious to connect with Mission Planner just to change my battery settings. I usually don't do it at all.

Most of my batteries are near the 2200mah range. I have some that are 5500mah though. So here's what I'm thinking.....

Put RF tag stickers on my batteries. A small RF reader will be placed on my UAV right above where I stuff the battery. The first thing my quad will do when it's powered up is read what battery it has in it and adjust itself based on previously stored data for each battery.

Adding batteries would be easy. Just scan the label your about to place on the battery for the value. Enter the RF tag number along with whatever params you need adjusted.

What do you think? Good idea?

  • agreed an arduino uno and lcd keypad shield with an rfid reader/writer would be sufficent at the field

  • I like it :)

now if the code required will fit or not is another thing

  • F-ing brilliant man. Well done. You just won the internet for today.
