Some good info HERE on connecting the APM to all the other equipment. I'm a newbe myself but from what I understand a six channel radio should be fine.

What do you mean program it? The Futaba 8FG talks with your receiver which then passes the PPM or PWM to the APM 2.5.. the APM is not radio specific since it just communicates to whatever receiver you have. Also I am not sure what receiver you have but the 8FG receivers are either 8 channel or 14 channel FASST... I don't know of a 6 channel one but I could be wrong. I use both the 8 and the 14 with my 8FG radio.
