Last night i used an XT 60 to Deans converter plug made by a friend to connect a battery to my quad which has an APM 2 board and I use the APM Power Module. Well i did not check the plug before i used it which was a mistake as it resulted with me connecting the battery with reversed polarity, there was wisp of smoke from sources unknown.
The result is if i now connect my correct polarity battery i get power to the GPS as seen by the blue LED light on the GPS board, and my radio receiver has power. The APM however has no LED status lights on it and the APM Power Module gets quite warm. If i disconnect the plug from the Power Module and connect the quad to my computer with the battery connected the APM works normal and will arm the motors run normal.
I guess the reverse polarity has fried the APM Power Module the only thing that is funny is why it powers the GPS and receiver? Should i just go get a new APM Power Module or could it have taken out part of the actual APM board?
Any thoughts from anyone?

@Steve,
You gotta remember the old saying "Measure twice, cut once". I did the same thing during the testing of my Maja drone when I bypassed the normal battery cables and incorrectly hooked a spare battery directly into the CC Phoenix ICE ESC and promptly smoked the board capacitors. One hundred dollars down the drain as it was so badly damaged that CC could not repair it.
