Ch 7 Opt - Auto Mode

As a suggestion it would be really nice if we had Auto option for Ch 7

I have Auto set on my 3 way switch bottom, but the other day I was in mid switch and thought I was in top, I went down one and my quad flew up and hit the trees, then crashing down.

To prevent this it would be nice if I could get Auto on a completely different switch like Ch 7.

Randy or other devs, is that an option for future?

Thanks, Ed,

Sounds like you're sorted so i'll leave this on the back-burner for now.

We put RTL on the ch7 switch so there isn't really any technical reason why there couldn't be AUTO or any of the other flight modes on there too.  It'll take a bit more code space but no more memory 'cuz we still have 255 possible slots for choices of what ch7 can do..only 11 used so far!  :-).

Slightly related to this, I think we probably should make a ch8 available for some use.  Historically on the APM1 that was for the MUX which allowed a straight pass-through of pilot inputs to the motors which was great for planes but no good for multicopters.  The number of APM1 users is dwarfed by the number of APM2 users now though so we can probably start using ch8 for something.  I was thinking of making it separate but have all the same options available as ch7.

  • Well I solved it. I did a mix with another switch and put auto and rtl over there so this is even better for me than ch7. I now have all auto functions on the alternate switch.

    Thanks for the suggestion
  • Have you tried the rotary switch option.

I have it installed on one Tx and until 2.9 was not really using it, due to having to snatch control to land after a mission, but now, it is proving most convenient. With some labels beside the switch there is no more confusion, or wrongly remembered switch settings.

I just worry that we are now wanting so many different options for poor old CH7, and don't forget the Dev's are really starting to squeeze the code into memory, and we keep asking for more variables and functions. Just a thought.
