  • @Edgar,

Keep in mind that GPS units are notorious in picking up interference from many electronic components such as Blue Tooth transceivers, radio signals which falls within the frequency of GPS satellite signals.  What type of GPS are you running.  Some GPS units such as the NEO-M8N are quite sensitive to interference coming from onboard electronics due to the design of the antenna, which can pick up back and side lobes off it.  So height away from electronics is crucial as well as ensuring things like processors and transmitters are kept away from the GPS unit.  Depending on who you talk too, I've seen reports that antenna masts should be up to 50 cm which is crazy for any of use smaller drone hobbyists.

Recommend testing the signal interference and quality of your GPS antenna by disconnecting those components which I mentioned and evaluate for signal improvements.  Once you located the culprit move it farther away as possible from the GPS antenna and it wouldn't hurt to elevate the antenna onto a mast around 10cm.

    Hope this helps.

If you could post a .BIN dataflash log file that would help.  I can't do much with the .log you have attached as the toolset I use doesn't process the mission planner interpreted log file.

    Thanks, Grant.

Attached is your GPS info.  Everything looks fine.  I would LOVE to get that many satellites on my GPS but its not gunna happen here in Aus.

In the graph picture you posted above I can't really tell what your graphing.  How did you produce it?

Did you actually have an issue in flight or is it something MP is telling you that worries you?

      Thanks, Grant.

    • I just did GPS speed and noticed all those GPS red errors on top, It all started I did an Auto flight and while FPV I saw it kinda sit there between waypoints and climb to a higher altitude, assume that was the RTL, maybe when it lost signal to Droid planner it just tried to RTL.  But the fact that all those errors came up made me wonder if the GPS was bad, especially FAILSAFE GPS 1 makes me "think" the GPS stopped working and it went into fail safe or something.  Maybe I am reading the banners wrong, really not sure, also the Error Flight Mode:14, seemed odd too, I think its Alt-Hold but not sure why that would be an error.

     - toroid, yea thats it, hehehe

    - Antenna in back (3DR Telemetry, 900mhz & Immersions RC 5.6 ghz)
    - Circle Disk looking thing, Bluetooth LE beacon. (just added, occurred before this too)

    - Why LEGO, our kids part of First LEGO League(FLL) and Makerspace, we have a site that sells kits @brickdrones.com, I want to change our recommendation from NAZA to APM for the schools but have seen issues like this to overcome.

Shyam - Droid planner said 3D lock before take off so I think thats like 10 sats or so?

  • I am having the same issue and I really need immediate help. My post also has my param file if that helps people.

    Thanks for helping.

    • How is your GPS mounted, and are there other electronic devices near the gps antenna, like telemetry, cameras, video transmitter....?

      A picture tells a lot.......

Search for my pictures, a possible installation idea, "Baby Borg" might not be the ultimate, or attractive, but it flies mission very well....

    • its pretty good location, even has wire wrapped around that green circle thing-a-bob ;)
