About Me:

Retired Navy with plenty of time on hand to enjoy hobbies.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

Been into RC Multicopters for two years now. Loving the hobby and learning a lot! One thing I've learned is that this hobby gets expensive. LOL I'm now up to three air frames, Hexa-C, Y-6B, and a custom built OctoQuad (X8).

"Well as you know DG, I've spent a lot of time configuring my modified Y6B to use 690Kv pancake motors for performance and cooling and 1247 on top and 1347 on bottom and have found at the moment the best configuration for me.  It really boils down to…"

"Each Quattro has a 5v Output which I ran to the power rail on the Pixhawk.  Since I have two Quattro's both are plugged into the rail providing power.  I have no PDB or separate UBEC's on my frame other than a 9v Step-Down voltage regulator (D24V6F9…"

"@David,  My Quattro's are not having any heating issues where I have them mounted.  I ensured the metal heat sink plate was facing out and away from anything that could create insulation mitigating heat buildup.  Funny part of this build is that I u…"

"I'm chatting up Bjoern on his post about MinimOSD issues as well.  Seems my two new purchases from RCTimer is showing the same issue I had with 3DR and HobbyKing's OSD modules.  They are temperamental and all these companies are developing the same…"

"I mounted my 4-in-1 ESC's under the frame side by side which the stick out about 1/3 of each on either side.  This wasn't an issue for me as they aren't noticeable when the clam shell is on the top of the frame."

"That is a nice and clean frame! What is AUW and how long does it stay aloft?"

"@DG,
Look at the ATG 600-X4-16mm frame for ideas to help you on your frame.
It weighs in very close to your frame weight.  I built mine using their quad frame with dual arms and ordered extra motor mounts which I modified slightly for routing of pow…"
