Charles Blouin commented on Tiziano Fiorenzani's blog post Precision Landing with OpenCv and Aruco Markers | Part 1
"Thanks for the tutorial! It would have been very useful when I was working on my thesis, I struggled with this exact problem (obtaining the position of a marker)."

Charles Blouin commented on Ewoud Smeur's blog post Disturbance Rejection with Incremental Control of Accelerations
"@Ewoud: Ok. Your controller looks great! The PID definetly looks less efficent here. I was just wondering how it would perform in gusty wind with a random pattern. The controller actually has a big effect on energy consumption. A very aggressive con…"

Charles Blouin commented on Ewoud Smeur's blog post Disturbance Rejection with Incremental Control of Accelerations
"Cool. Have you considered the power usage of the controller compared to a PID? When flying in open environment, lower controller constants might increase flight time and range."

Charles Blouin commented on Alexandre Mainardi (Nuvem UAV)'s blog post 3D Printed Halbach array Motor. 600W, over 80% efficiency!
"You are right, I meant that the motor itself can be 90%+ efficient when the prop generates a torque and speed in the most efficient torque-speed region of an efficient motor."

Charles Blouin commented on Alexandre Mainardi (Nuvem UAV)'s blog post 3D Printed Halbach array Motor. 600W, over 80% efficiency!
"Motor vendors are often optimistic ;) But you can get over 90% mechanical efficiency with the right motor prop combination."

"@EngineerX Those are really good tests, thanks for taking the time to publish the results! There are a few scripts included with our device and if you end up buying it, I can help you customize the scripts to your needs.
You can still get the device…"

Charles Blouin commented on Charles Blouin's blog post First affordable USB thrust stand available now!
"Hi JB,
Thanks for the feedback. We are looking at all the possibilities for our next product, and you are right that there is a need for data logging, especially a smart ESC. Dynamic timing in flight would only possible with a smart ESC.
I think the…"

Charles Blouin commented on Mike Binder's blog post BAT-SAFE for lipo charging
"Just backed for two boxes! Good luck with your kickstarter campaign. It is not as cool as the 1M$+ recent drone kickstarts, but it has a lot more chances of delivering, and safety is important to our hobby."

"@DynexHobby Glad to see such a product exist!
@OlliW: Thanks for the feedback. We considered many options and we had to balance sturdiness, simplicity, accuracy of results and cost. It is not perfect, but we think for many designers, the results can…"

Charles Blouin commented on Charles Blouin's blog post First affordable USB thrust stand available now!
"@Tobias Unfortunately, the central part of the propeller does not contribute as much. Blade speed is proportional to the radius, and area covered is proportionnal to the radius. Thrust is proportional the square of the air speed. Those are not the o…"
