Heading Track Issues with GPS + APM2.6

Hi everyone,

I've been having issues calibrating my GPS to point to the right direction in Mission planner.

My HDOP is low, My SAT count shows 11-17 any given time, compass calibration was successful and live calibration picked all the point.

Soo, what i get is my gps heading always 45-80 degrees off no matter how many time i calibrate or change the roll numbers under setup. (I tried all of the options for the mounting).

I tried 3 different GPS's, one of them the original 3DR.

Is this a firmware issue? It used to work well before i change the firmware on my quad.

Please advise,

Thanks for the help.

Sergio

GPS heading is only meaningful when it's in motion. It is measuring the direction of the track, and when you're on the ground there is no track.

    • Thanks Chris,

My only concern is that n the past when I pointed the front of the craft to an area (while on the ground) the RED tracking line would follow close to the same direction, now it moves but it is always off by 45-80 degrees. Not sure if it is safe to take off and loiter but I will try. Compass looks correct though.

Do you know if the firmware version could have affected this read?

Again, if the compass is correct, don't worry about the track until you're in motion.

    • Ok, Thanks for the help.
