Little Flip

Hello,

One month ago, my arducopter crash because of a little flip (not sure if it is the correct term) at low altitude.

After a motor mount replacement, I decide to try again and make a video to show the behavior and attach the telemetry log file.

How can I fix this behavior ?

Thanks in advance,

Pascal

  • I'd also check the electronics such as solder joints at bullet connectors etc. I had a similar issue with 3 pin inline connectors s between Speedy & Motors. Some of the factory solder joints were like bird poop too. When soldering Motor wires the wire strands generally need scraping or cleaning as they are lacquer coated. If not cleaned you will only solder to the very tip of the wires.

    I also suspect that a motor is stalling while flying.  I'd also say have you done the ESC calibration?  You can also try raising the THR_MIN from 130 to 150 to see if that fixes the problem..but that shouldn't be necessary if you've done the ESC calibration.

  • I haven't looked at the tlogs yet, but from the video it looks as though one of the motors is dipping.

    I had this a couple of times with my quad;

    I use an f450 frame with NTM 2816 (1200kV) motors, controlled by Turnigy TY-P1 25a ESCs

    The Motors all run fine, and the ESC's all run fine.

    However, I have, like so many others, flashed the ESCs with SimonK firmware.

    These motors have an issue with the SimonK firmware that can cause a sync problem with the motors, causing it to drop RPM or in some cases stop the motor, and "Cog".

    This was what was happening with mine. I had tested it, and noticed it once, during a test hover in my kitchen, and it hit the floor. I rearmed, and it was fine. Until a few days later it did out again, but this time it was at about 40', and it crashed, and snapped an arm.

    What ESC/Motor/Firmware are you using?

    If it is this issue, then it's nothing to do with the APM, as when I had my issue (Which presented itself in this way) I was flying with a KK2 (1.6++)
