New to drones and the group

Hello everyone,After lots of reading and research I've come to you all with questions.I'm new to drones and am looking for a RTF ArduCopter to start off with. My biggest question is that would you recommend the jDrones or 3DRobotics kit for a beginner.I'd like something that I can manually fly as well as use the APM 2.5 module for programmed flight.All suggestions welcome and appreciated.Thanks.-Kris

    Hi Kris,

    That's kinda like asking do you prefer chocolate or vanilla ice cream. There's lots of support for both platforms.  Having said that I am running 3DR gear and it's been a pleasure to use.  I suggest the 3DR version to friends if they want to use the APM.  It was cheaper [when I bought mine] and this forum and 3DR are under Chris Andersons' wing - so you know you can go straight to the source if something does go wrong - not that it has with my gear (aside from my own fault).

    Just be prepared to purchase some spares - as you'll need it when you crash. (;

    Cheers,
    David.

  • Hi Kris,

    In my knowledge, jDrones is pretty good and people are quite happy with it. You can do a lot of extentions to jdrones and it supports APM2.5, is a plus. I am not too sure about 3D Robotics, may be someone from the forums can guide further.

    Try to spend a while on these links:

    jdrones arducopter
