Odd behavior on the motor test option in MP

Hi all,

This is my first post so please be gentle :)

I have recently replaced my multiwii board with a APM 2.5 and have had some setup problems

that I have unable to resolve.

Firstly the quad used to fly very well when using the multiwii board so I thought the upgrade would

be quite painless.  However,  I ran the motor test option just to check rotation etc and got quite a surprise.

The motors have been fitted as per the requirements and then connected to the board in the required order.

I noted the information about the motors and they would run up in a clockwise direction starting with motor 1 ( top right).  Well for me this has not happened.

I have the motors installed from the top right clockwise 1,4,2,3.  1 and 2 CCW and 3 and 4 CW

The first motor to move was as expected motor 1 then clockwise to motor 4 then instead of motor 2 it went to 3 then finished with 2.

I have each motor connected in sequence 1 to 1, 2 to 2 etc..

They all rotate in the correct direction.

I have run up the quad, hand held and it is uncontrollable ( as I thought it would be).

I have also erased the eeprom and reloaded the software again just incase of corruption

Any ideas anybody

Thanks in anticipation

  • Hi Shyam.

Once again thanks for the replies.

Sorry about the confusion, but thanks for the help.

    I will try again.

I have connected to the AMP on output pins 1 to 4 four motors directly to their respective ESC's.

On the inputs I have all the radio channels from the RCV 1 to 7.

I have a 3DR power module that supplies power to the APM.

I also have another board for power distribution only, which supplies all the motor ESC's.

I have a GPS module connected to the correct port

I have run the erase command

I have loaded the FW via the MP only

I have run through all the setup procedures many times and as such have become quite familiar with these ( much as I do not wish to!)

So in short a motors only connection with any item on the quad is with the APM output pins only ( excluding power )

With the motors connected in the manuals order it does not behave correctly.  With 2 an 3 swapped ( in the wrong order ) it appears to do as you would expect.

So as far as I can see the only way the quad can fly correctly is by connecting the motors 2 and 3 to the incorrect output pins of the APM.  Surely this must be wrong?

  • Hi,

But what is the problem? Did you fly outside?
