custom R/C controller and apm2.6

Let me ask a silly question.

I'm trying to build a custom R/C controller to control my rover.

What sticks are used to control a 4wd rover with skid steering ?

can someone explain what the left stick does and what the right ?

    Presently, using a Mode 2 R/C transmitter, the right joysticks, Elevator (pitch) joystick and Aileron (roll) joystick are used to control the skid steering.

    The Elevator joystick controls the forward and reverse speed while the Aileron joystick controls the right and left turns.

    • So only the right stick is used (2  channels correct) ?

      Does the left stick do anything ? Can I use it to control a pan/tilt mechanism ?

      You can use the left joysticks (Rudder/Throttle) for whatever you like.

    • let me ask one more question, is the right stick self centering ?

      @Apostolos,

      In a Mode 2 R/C transmitter, the right joystick will be self centering.

      The left joystick will have the rudder as self centering only.
