First Crash - looking for input

Well, I think it may be a right of passage. I was flying a very simple mission from Droid Planner today when everything went amuck.

  1. Sent DroidPlannner mission plan to Iris+ (via Nexus7).
  2. Lifted in AUTO, Way-point should have sent it southeast. It headed that direction initially,
  3. but then abruptly headed for trees,
  4. I think I flipped to STD Mode, but too late,
  5. hit the ground.

No damage to the IRIS+, but the Tarot Gimbal is broken. Hopefully I can repair it. I need input on why this may have happened.

    Did the logs show the problems or cause of? So can I find all of my flights in my logs? I have dates and videos of my crashes I'd that would help me locate them in the files? Thanks for shedding some light with this thread. And for any help confirming suspicions of the causes.

    I trashed all the waypoints on DroidPlanner prior to sending a new mission. I drew a simple splined plan heading south over the ice. I did a "SEND" Mission. I switched to AUTO (from Loiter) and gave a little throttle. Iris+ head for way-point 2 (south) but within a second or two it abruptly headed north into some trees. I tried to quickly switch to STD mode, but it all happened in seconds, so I'm really not sure if I actually switchedin time to have any control. It was on the ground very quickly.

      a better sequence is to give a little throttle, then switch to auto. It should do the rest. I will usually only adjust the stick when landing to find the best flat area for the gimbals' sake.

      If you were connected via DroidPlanner you should should have the logs on your phone. If you can upload them to Droneshare, the team can review them.

      Can you explain how I could get them off of DroidPlanner? I use a Nexus7

      Would this offer more info that the logs I've attached (which were downloaded from the Iris using APM)?
