I'm still trying to find an answer to this after a couple of weeks of being down, 3DR support has been pretty slow on the uptake.

Basically, my Iris+ isn't getting commands from my radio controller, i.e. the box with the joysticks and the FrSky DJT. Mission Planner and APM think the controller isn't turned on, even though it's bound to the D4R-II receiver, and the controller is getting data like altitude, satellites, battery voltage, etc.

In both Mission Planner and APM, all the telemetry data is coming in just fine.

When I try to calibrate the radio with Mission Planner, I get no green in the UI, where it's supposed to have green bars that indicate the positions of the controls, and in the end I get this message "Bad channel 1 input, cancelling".

In APM, the error message is "Radio control is not active or turned on."

Can anyone shed some light on what needs to be replaced?

Thanks for not suggesting it's not bound. It's definitely bound.

I rechecked the wiring, and there was that one time when one of the wires came off of the the connector for the receiver, and I had to get another connector and splice things back. I could have sworn I had them all in the right places, but apparently not. I had the ground wire on the adjacent pin and had switched the Tx and Rx wires!

Now I have them all in order, but still no workee. Now I'm not getting anything on the controller.

Here are a couple of reference images I worked from.

  • I agree with others. It could be a binding thing. Look at this 3DR page, and scroll down to the part about binding the radio.

  • It maybe that the radio is no longer bound to the transmitter or the receiver is not getting any power.

  • Developer
It means that the RC Radio is not connected. Check the RC receiver is connected to the Pixhawk.
