Pixhawk replacement and tuning: motor lag

After a Pixhawk failure and pretty mean crash of the Iris+, I have installed 3DR replacements of the PXHK and GPS units. After extensive tuning, I have it almost where I need it (sans propellers or flying) After calibrating the ESC's, I find that in regular start up my standard (that comes with the unit) RC radio is leaving the motors hanging and/or lagging behind in commands. I have to flick the stick at the bottom to return to idle. The calibration of the radio is a beyond the 1100/1900 by 100 or so in each direction.

Any thoughts?

Ps: you can also install the default parameters for the iris+ as well
    • Ok. I did install the Iris params.
If I write the params again, will that wipe the compass calibration? I had a great sphere man!

    • Flew perfect accept that I have it in "simple" mode!

      Thx again for the reply.

I always apply param files using the compare feature, so I only tick the ones I want. But in the case of the Iris Param file it only contains the values it can preset. You still need to calibrate rc, accel, compass

When armed, the motors will spin (you can disable this). Setting to zero throttle is probably triggering a disarm.

An in any case, it's can be hard to predict the motor behaviour when 'bench testing'. Especially in modes other than stabilize.

Following the calibration procedures and you will good to fly
