I bought 2 APM's on eBay/ China. Both garbage. My son was frustrated to death no matter what he did it flew erratically. Bought a 2.6 APM from the 3dr flew great right away. It's simply not worth the risk not to mention it's nice to support the company who does most of the R&D. Just my 2cents
I was one of the first people to order the pixhawk when it came out because it was new and exactly what I was looking for. With that said, as I presume this with be your first unit take your time and read everything you can about this system. As it is advertised (the pix hawk will control anything that moves autonomously) Planes, cars, boats, helicopters, multi rotors, and anything you can think up and it does exactly that. It does it so well that I have two of them and in time I hope to add many more.
BUT again you need to read and spend time with this unit to understand is full functionality and what it is capable of and once you do this you will be very satisfied with this equipment.
You have to remember that this is not a DJI product or others that are mearly a flight system for multirotor, this unit is much much more. It's like comparing a fishing boat to a nuclear submarine so again, read and understand everything and once you do the sky realy is the limit.
Have fun and fly safe, and please stay at or below 400 ft if in US Air space.

Sir;
The 3DR is what you need! Great service and excelllent customer support.
Try to stay away from sub standard clones.In the end it will cost you more.
I would purchase it right from 3DR
I have two of them and work flawless.
The pictures are worth a million words.
Take a look at 3DR website and take a look at there GPS receiver and also the telemetry transmitter and reciever and you will notice what is already very evident.

I have to agree with Rodney as I was about to make the same mistake. Believe me you will need 3DR support and you will not find a company with better support. I do realize it is allot more money but well worth it. Also you might want to mention what you are looking to build and what options you will need as I did learn the hard way.
