I am attempting to setup joystick control mappings for UgCS with a Speedlink Phantom Hawk. The joystick has a rotatable z-axis for yaw control but it is not detected by UgCS when I attempt to add a mapping. I have tested the joystick with other applications and confirmed that the z-axis control works with them. I am running UgCS 2.11 on macOS 10.12.
Has anyone experienced similar issues with this or other joysticks and found a solution?

I guess my initial thought about the axis was wrong.

It seems that if the axis is detected as Z-Rotation instead of Z-Axis, it will not be recognized in UgCS, unfortunately.
Solution would be to map the Z-Rotation axis as Z-Axis (if possible) within some configuration utility of your joystick.

Thanks. The Z-axis rotation is recognised by the tester app but the axis is labelled as Z-Rotation rather than Z-Axis. Could this be the issue?
