Skywalker X8 Launcher Plans
I recently built an X8 launcher and thought that I would share the plans. The legs are removable, but at the moment, not adjustable. The trigger isn't anything special and I hope to modify it eventually. It currently is made up of a door hinge with springs welded between it and an extension on the top. The launcher that I built is rather heavy given that it is made out of iron, but the design it is based off of is made out of aluminum. Here is the link to the bungee that I…

Nice, thanks David, no worries, it's worth waiting for as I have no personal ability to scan! Good luck!
Jason, Sorry I may have been a bit premature. I have tried a few different methods (SFM/Kinect etc) with poor results - not better than you could make yourself in an hour :( As a result of the poor lighting in my flat and the surface finish (reflectivity) of the EPO. I'm snowed under at work at the moment, and don't have access to my projector to add structured light, which I am hoping will sort it, but will be able to give it another shot in about 10 days. If the surface proves too reflective for this then I may have to use some of the methods described on the david laserscanner forums. As soon as I have anything work sharing I'll get it up on here - I found someone on rc groups who had made a scan with a faro handheld unit but they haven't got back to me - as a last resort I could get access to a similar device but that may take some time...
Hey Pete any luck on those CAD files? I'm ready to build bro!
PS You don't need to include the Samsung stuff!
Flew my X8 yesterday with 4kg all up weight (AUW). Shot into the sky no problems and handled superbly. Will be upping this to 6kg in the next few days. Here's a video with my new GoPro toy! More info on my page.
No problem, I'd be interested in what you come up with for sure. The size of the x8 makes it perfect for a modular "pod" system - I've been using a normal enclosure to house the control system, except the esc. Its worked very well both cleaning up the installation and making vibration isolation much easier to achieve effectively.
Once I have the lower section of the fuselage built I'll post it; hopefully tomorrow night.
I'm using the scans to finish a mounting system design for a Samsung NX1000. It should be pretty cool: providing stabilization for nadir images (for bank and pitch <15) and a lens cover/skid for landing. I'm not sure if I want to give the plans for those away just yet, but will defiantly make it available somehow once I've worked the kinks out.
Pete! Good show! I am trying to build an electronics "pod" to insert into the body, if you end up with a cad I can use in Solidworks that would be great! I will post the Pod files when finished. Still trying to grasp solidworks and my own X8 is still in storage waiting to come to life... thanks again!

Hello, Does anyone have a 3D cad scan of the x8?
