Simon Howroyd replied to Konrad Harbort's discussion Xbee as telemetry module for pixhawk does not work
"Been doing this years, have loads of them lying around and they weren't cheap!"

Simon Howroyd replied to Konrad Harbort's discussion Xbee as telemetry module for pixhawk does not work
"I Have the same issue.  Worked fine on APM.  Works fine USB to USB.  As soon as I connect pixhawk to xbee, very dodgy.

The odd hearbeat comes through but that's it.

Scoped the pins coming out of pixhawk, can see the hearbeat, looks ok.  Scoping…"

"IMO no, the reynolds numbers are too low"

Simon Howroyd commented on Simon Howroyd's blog post Efficient Powerpath Balancing for Fuel Cell Battery Hybrid Powertrains
"Hi Christian,
Very interesting idea, I think it probably hasn't been done much because of the limited payload.  However, if rather than 2x 4Ah batteries linked in parallel to double your endurance you linked them through a LTC4416 in parallel you…"

Simon Howroyd commented on Duffy's blog post World's first hydrogen pellet drone flight
"James, the Aeropaks are impressive by Horizon (Arcola have close links).  Slowly approaching something sensible for our hobby in terms of power density.  Although there arent many applications for us where long endurance and low power is desired."

Simon Howroyd commented on Simon Howroyd's blog post Efficient Powerpath Balancing for Fuel Cell Battery Hybrid Powertrains
"Thanks for your comments gents.

Rambo, that looks very interesting congrats.  I am actually using the LTC4416, unfortunately the 4370 is designed for load sharing equality which my system isn't. The fuel cell is not electrically similar to a LiPo…"

Simon Howroyd commented on Simon Howroyd's blog post Efficient Powerpath Balancing for Fuel Cell Battery Hybrid Powertrains
"oh, that one is spec'd for 1.8kW ish (i.e. designed for a max of a 4 cell with a 100A ESC).  It is very scalable however, just add more MOSFETs to handle larger loads.."

Simon Howroyd commented on Simon Howroyd's blog post Efficient Powerpath Balancing for Fuel Cell Battery Hybrid Powertrains
"Thanks gents.  If you're interested what it looks like here is a photo of the working prototype.  It is the same size as the raspberry pi and stacked on top of it.  Original concept was to fly it with a fuel cell inside a Skywalker X8...may still…"

For those following my work, thank you and sorry for the long wait for an update!  I am currently writing up my doctorate so as you can imagine I have been a social hermit recently!Nevertheless, I have now had a journal paper published which may be…

Simon Howroyd replied to Pavel's discussion Is it possible to cover APM with aluminum foil to minimize UHF noise interference? in ArduPlane User Group
"Lol don't give him ideas about HAARP, oh God!
He said that he had issues flying at 1km without shielding, added the shields and flew fine.  I am somewhat assuming here that the shielding was the only varying factor between flights.  If that is the…"

Simon Howroyd replied to Pavel's discussion Is it possible to cover APM with aluminum foil to minimize UHF noise interference? in ArduPlane User Group
"In  which case congratulations on increasing your range.
I think you should have asked your original question a bit differently, however, as shielding APM wont really achieve any of what you are talking about.
Power lines and the mobius are…"

Simon Howroyd replied to Pavel's discussion Is it possible to cover APM with aluminum foil to minimize UHF noise interference? in ArduPlane User Group
"It is irrelevant to the original question.
So is what you are trying to do is shield APM from incoming noise, or protect everything else from the noise APM generates?
I wouldn't worry too much about noise in the wires, that is why we use filters…"
