Adam Kilpatrick commented on Andy Osusky's blog post Autonomous Boat to Cross the Atlantic Ocean
"@Andy Osusky
nice work!
I wonder if you could use sea water to help cool your electronics box(es)? Wouldn't necessarily have to involve piping running into or out of the box itself, might work just by running a panel over the outside(underneath) the…"

Adam Kilpatrick commented on Greg Crutsinger's blog post King Clone: Mapping ancient desert shrubs using Parrot Sequoia
"Pretty common in arid environments that NDVI doesn't work too well. C4 rather than C3. NDVI and my other vegetation indices fall down in these environments. To go with that, sparse actual % cover doesn't help."

Adam Kilpatrick commented on Enterprise Drone Solutions's blog post Enterprise Drone Solutions announces Théa: the world’s first UAS to meet the high standards for an FAA Airworthiness Certificate
"I agree John! The operator part and their decision making process, and risk mitigation strategies are under-rated in most situations.
Though, when you are flying a heavy system over a crowd of people, the equation does require a high degree of…"

Adam Kilpatrick commented on Enterprise Drone Solutions's blog post Enterprise Drone Solutions announces Théa: the world’s first UAS to meet the high standards for an FAA Airworthiness Certificate
"In Aus, a big requirement for getting a permission to fly over people is multiple redundancy of systems.
What sort of flight controller are you using, and how do you go about that? How do you handle redundancy of communication with the pilot on the…"

Adam Kilpatrick commented on Kyle's blog post NextGen Quiet High Endurance Heavy Lift MultiRotor
"Vibration is also an issue with heli's, which is a non-trivial issue with mapping."

Adam Kilpatrick commented on Kyle's blog post NextGen Quiet High Endurance Heavy Lift MultiRotor
"For mapping purposes you don't want to fly at 20+m/s, unless you are flying really really high altitudes."

Adam Kilpatrick commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Smart RTL comes to PX4
"In your video, it seems to pass through a flight path intersection (Line WP3-WP4 crosses Line WP1-WP2), then it takes a new route to get to another intersection (Line WP1-H crosses Line WP2-3). Why is that? I would call that "uknown" airspace. Is…"

Adam Kilpatrick replied to Chad Hill's discussion Planning "multiple battery" missions?
"Hi Chad

this is a problem we've had for a while, we use Mission Planner. Previously, we had to save multiple versions of a mission and manually guess at waypoints to break it up. We'd keep an extra flightline of overlap to make sure. This was…"
