RTF ArduCopter RC wiring

I just received my RTF quadcopter and can't seem to get it to receive any RC signals to calibrate the ESCs. The wiring from 3DR for RC connection is all single wire. I connected these to the S pin on my RC receiver but nothing seems to be working. I
