About Me:
Assistant Research Engineer at Michigan Tech Research Institute. (mtri.org) MTRI is a Remote Sensing facility specializing in Great Lakes Environmental Remote Sensing and defense sensing and signal processing applications. We are part of Michigan Technological University, although our facility is located off campus in Ann Arbor. We collaborate with many MTU faculty members and recruit many student interns. I have a B.S in Electrical Engineering from MTU and enjoy building sensor packages and my own personal gadgets.
Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest
I've been interested in RC aircraft for a while. My grandfather was quite skilled in building his own airplanes. At work, we have been using UAVs to gather data for research purposes. We began with aerial imagery to develop a tool to remotely assess road conditions, but we have also flown over water to gather pictures and spectral measurements for quality assessment and even attached software defined radios (SDR) for testing.
