Henry Fletcher commented on Henry Fletcher's blog post Switching from DCM to Quaternion
"Oh yes! Woops, good spot Bill. 3x3 is 9 but the DCM is a 3x3 matrix ... !Yes, perhaps "clunky" wasn't the best word there! I just got a little carried away with the fact I had got my gyro updated variables down from 9 to 4, I guess it satisfied my…"

Henry Fletcher commented on Henry Fletcher's blog post Switching from DCM to Quaternion
"This is a good discussion! I have been following it closely :) I can always learn a thing or two about hardware interfacing! I wrote much of the DCM code and the quaternion implementation we are now using, and I have already had it scruntinized by…"

We've recently made the move from the old clunky DCM implementation to a new Quaternion approach, and it seems to perform better, or at least the code is much smaller and takes almost no time at all to execute on our 72MHz 32-bit flight controller.…

Video of ROFL Tuning Session with spectacular crash when we deliberately detune one of the PID values! No quadcopters harmed (much) in the making of this video.  Video of stable flight below.By the way, the ROFL quadcopter kit is still on sale on my…

Heya! We have Seraphim in stock right now www.universalair.co.uk/catalog/seraphim (we forgot to enter it as available on the website - now rectified)!  Hope you are well. Not thought of anything to do with Forebrain yet ;) ? I'm tempted to…"

Seraphim is our sensor board for the quadcopter, it includes accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, barometer, GPS and micro-SD card slot.  With the exception of the GPS unit, all of these components are a complete pain in the backside to solder…

"Hello Greg!
This is something of a sneak preview of Hivebrain on DIY drones! It hasn't been added to our website yet. It's hot off the press (well, pcb equipment :-P) Shown in the picture (top) is a retail (black livery) Forebrain (here is the…"

"Heya Chris. In general all our products aimed at hobbyists will be open source after the development phase. Some of the larger projects we may be contractually obliged to keep closed source by our clients, but these are most likely bespoke items.…"

"Bernard,
Thank you very much for the kind compliments :)
(I must admit a breif rehersal was necessary!)
I intend to do many similar things in the future so keep an eye out for more of the same!

"Haha! Yes, I know what you mean James! Though now I'm just thinking along the lines of starting to approach the issue simply....I'll throttle up and fly directly upwards, to get airflow over the wings and see how that works...then if it all goes…"

As with any inventor, designer or engineer, things don't always go my way! Actually as it turns out, I did not damage the Seraphim prototype, but did destroy the reciever! That cheered me up a bit as we have much more need for the Seraphim rather…

"Jason,
Didn't do any more tuning, but couldn't resist trying it outside:

Not immensely stable, but there are a lot of wind eddies around the garden, caused by the buildings and shrubbery, and the wing area means these have quite a large impact on…"

Yes, that looks a brilliant craft! How did you find transistion from hover to forward flight? We'll be embarking on some attempts to do that soon!
