LW replied to Ned Horning's discussion The right tool for the job in Agricultural UAVs
"NDVI tells me I have biomass and to a degree how much over the area of my field. That's good and I can get some information from that.  But more is needed so instead of the Right Tool For The Job maybe I should ask what is the Right Script For The…"

LW replied to RG's discussion Anyone used MicaSense RedEdge? in Agricultural UAVs
"Thanks Matt!

Is NDVI2 useful?  Just wondering why you would need to two color scales?  Pardon my simple questions.

LW replied to RG's discussion Anyone used MicaSense RedEdge? in Agricultural UAVs
"When we get our MicaSense imagery there is a NDVI2 processed image.  Anyone know what bands are used for that processed image?

Thanks!

LW replied to RG's discussion Anyone used MicaSense RedEdge? in Agricultural UAVs
"We have used MicaSense and are satisfied.  Not sure how they are determining reflectance values without a reference panel?  The NDVI and NDRE looks good though.
Do it yourself mosaicing of the images in each band is ok with AgiSoft but not knowing…"

LW replied to LW's discussion UAS crop scouting cost in Agricultural UAVs
"I did find a UAS crop consulting business and they charge $4/acre.  This includes everything from flying to processing and delivering a prescription map for variable rate application.

Basic $50/month @ 150acres/month
Plus $100/month @ 350 acres/month
Pro $250/month @ 1,000 acres/month

LW posted a discussion in Agricultural UAVs
A farmer ask me what the cost would be if he subscribed to a UAS scouting service.  I had no idea...Does anyone have an idea on what some of the services are charging? Cost/acre or cost/year?I have no affiliation with any service nor do I want to…

LW replied to Ned Horning's discussion The right tool for the job in Agricultural UAVs
"I'm interested in the formulas too.
Being a field person our group would collect all the ground truthing data while the manned aircraft and/or satellite would fly over.  Now that we're into sUAS the platforms are different but the remote sensing is…"

LW replied to Ned Horning's discussion The right tool for the job in Agricultural UAVs
"Hi Ned
The temporal difference between T1(reference) and T2 does make sense.

An issue I see with the target(s) is how many will you need?  If you are flying at 400' over a 50 acre field with a Micasense multispectral camera (or some other camera)…"

LW replied to Ned Horning's discussion The right tool for the job in Agricultural UAVs
"Thank you all for responding to the normalization questions.  So, if I wanted to setup a workflow for normalizing an image I would:
1. Clip the image to a polygon to remove all pixels outside my field of interest like gravel roads, any water, etc. …"

"John
You used a reference panel to 'flat-field' correct all your images.  Would you elaborate on that a little.

Thank you!
