About Me:

I am a teacher at the local college where I teach young apprentices how to repair heavy equipment. With an ongoing interest in RC planes and newly quads, I also have acquired an interest in autonomous vehicles.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I have been working on a new UAV rover that my students have nicknamed Fred. Acronym for Free Ranging Electronic Device. Fred has been built from a combination of wheelchair motors and snowblower tracks. My students and I have taught ourselves how to tig weld and have built a body entirely of aluminium. Fred started as just FPV but I am currently installing an APM 2.8 to make him autonomous. I am in thebprocess of starting an autonomous vehicle club at the school to get more young people interested in the technology. It is just a short reach from the current GPS machine control for heavy equipment and full autonomy.
