  • Hi Robert,

This is on carbon fibre. Aluminium can easily be either hard anodised, and and then end milled with the the labels as a negative, or laser etched with the pattern. With these composites like CF and black G10 we simply engrave the text with the CNC, then fill up the groove with paint, just wiping away the excess. Having the paint deep inside the cut helps it stay there for a long time, so these will still be legible many years from now.

As we use at least 1.5-2.5mm thick CF for the top instrument panels everywhere, engraving the text to a depth of at least 0.2-0.4mm is never an issue. However, we needed some practice, and we had to experiment quite a lot with different types of paint and thinner, because removing the excess paint is always the tricky part.

  • Lovely! How do you get the white letters on aluminum?
