Well..these results proved inconclusive as I could not repeat them again. I have ordered a new ultrasonic sensor that states it has built in filters to handle the noise that other sensors encounter. I attempted this concept with a Strait-Line ultra sonic tape measure. It returned very stable measures when I held it upside dow, aimed at the carpet and shook it to replicate a really unbalanced helicopter. Its readings held solid as a rock. The sensor I ordered provides accurate to within 1 inch from 6 inches to 255 inches (20 feet apprx.). The sensor is at Spark Fun and is model
