30 years of autonomous landing technology culminate as, for the 1st time ever, a winged vehicle returns from 225 days in space, flies into national airspace & lands on a runway with no human intervention.

    The USSR didn't have to overcome the amount of beaurocracy that US did.

    This is cool, but of course the Soviets orbited and landed the Buran space shuttle autonomously in 1988, or is that's what's meant by 30 years of autonomous landing technology? Sorry if this was noted already.
