  • Did you use the motors & esc's that came with the frame in the kit or are using different ones?
  • I'm waiting for the Garmin Virb. It's packed with features and has decent specs. Mounts will be hard to come by at first but I'm sure that will soon change.
  • Yup, with all 3DR stuff, there is an extra cable not needed for the APM.  Can't say about the camera mount.  I am reading many folks use an extra battery for the camera mount and gimbal.  Raph used a Tarot 2d.  It seems like a good possiblity, although I might look some more for a generic, that I could use a GoPro or some small other camera.  Just don't know that I want to be locked into one that mounts to the GoPro.  Also, no protection for the GoPro with the Tarot.

  • Ooops, sorry typo on your name there Nelson.
  • Hey Belso, if you have a look at the other photos in the album (bottom right of the picture) you should see the other ESCs on the tail boom. Mounting the ESCs and routing the wiring was the hardest part. I looked for pictures online but couldn't really find anything.

I did use the PDB and PM and believe this made it much easier. It was a little tricky getting all of the deans connectors on. I first attached the ESC control wires and then the front 4 deans connectors, finally connecting the rear two.

Actually you might be able to help me. One thing I couldn't work out was where the black and red small wires from the PDB went on the amp. I figured the PM was powering the AMP using the 6 wire connection which would also provide the common GND. I figured I would use this connection (which I'm assuming is connected to one of the BECs on an ESC) to power the servos on my camera mount. Any ideas?
  • Hmmm, I took 4 days to put it together, but then, my first time on this type of kit.  A lot of us struggled with "where" to tuck all the wires, ESCs, etc.  In your photos I see 4 of 6 ESCs.  Just wondered where the other two are.  Also, did you use the 3DR PDB and PM?  BTW, many of us are using 5 - 6 amp 3s batteries.  Mine is stable in flight, and the Alt Hold, Loiter, and RTL work well.
