New cut into MQ-9 fuselage - Li Po hold.

The 98" nitroplanes MQ-9 can carry ( 3 ) 5000 mAh Lipos just in front of the wings and the center of gravity by cutting open the fuselage between the two plywood supports. This adds over 2.5 lbs. and increase time aloft or altitude or both with MotoCalc or another prop-battery-motor analysis. Also, much more room is now available up at the nose for electronics, fpv, etc.

  • I debated about placing a rectangle fiberglass attachment under the fuselage that would hold, balance, and adjust protected Li Po rechargeable batteries but thought it may be better to utilize space within the fuselage before increasing the resistance of this airframe.  Actual testing of different configurations may be necessary.
