i am using head play goggles from range video. they are 800x600 but will support 1080hd video playback.
the color and image quality is amazing. each camera sensor is rated at 525lines to when your brain combines the two images it is a very sharp image that you see, combined with the effect of 3d and the detail you get from motion in 3D, and a normal 2d camera looks like a cluttered mess by comparison, where details become hard to identify.
i do have some 3d videos i filmed on line here on youtube, and here. i have the 3D support turned off on these videos because youtube butchers 3d video, and they are NOT a good demo of what you actually see in the goggles, i have used a computer to convert them to side by side format and they can be viewed using a 3d capable TV that supports side by side 3D, or you can cross your eyes, i do that and i think it looks better that way then on a display using LCD shutter glasses.
i will also take anyone that is close by here in Seattle for a ride with me on my copter, i have 2 pair of 3d goggles from head play and can take a passenger up for a ride. i have done this a few times and every person that has flown 3D with me has been amazed.
i have one on my TBS discovery pro, and on my DG 1000 motor glider, as well as a micro quad and a traxxas Summit rc truck. the new cameras from Russia are more compact, but can still be set up with IPD to match the human eye for better 3D effect if you are so inclined.
the goggles we use must be able to process field sequential 3D video, and only the head plays can do this in good resolution, they are 800x600, it is an amazing experience to see how close the tree branches are as you fly under or through them.
the camera is available at range video for about $180.00 US
it all transmits through your regular video transmitter, i am using the ImmersionRC 600mw 5.8ghz on all my aircraft it works great.

What goggles do you use for the 3D? And just how good is it? I assume it works best when it matches the distance between your own eyes?
