Great PhotoSynth thread here http://arch.ced.berkeley.edu/kap/discuss/comments.php?DiscussionID=...
Also check out AGISofts StereoScan (free!), PhotoScan (cheap) and PhotoScan Pro (expensive). Using some of the ideas from the PhotoSynth toolkits there is a work around to get an orthophoto from StereoScan or PhotoScan non-Pro....
PhotoModeller Scanner works great but is expensive and the version I have tried was not automatic - I think the latest version maybe but I have not had a chance to try it yet.

This is really interesting. Great work!
Im wondering if anyone has used Photomodeller to do this kind of thing?
Also, I may have missed it, but what is the size of the photos that you synthed? In other words, is it possible to do this with 1-5 mpixel cameras? What about photos extracted from a video taken with a key fob camera?
You are the pioneer of UAV photosynth user, Gary. I believe.
brakar's account should be somewhere...
