    Don't forget Jorns project http://uavmapping.com/
  • Great PhotoSynth thread here http://arch.ced.berkeley.edu/kap/discuss/comments.php?DiscussionID=...

Also check out AGISofts StereoScan (free!), PhotoScan (cheap) and PhotoScan Pro (expensive). Using some of the ideas from the PhotoSynth toolkits there is a work around to get an orthophoto from StereoScan or PhotoScan non-Pro....

PhotoModeller Scanner works great but is expensive and the version I have tried was not automatic - I think the latest version maybe but I have not had a chance to try it yet.

Toggle points. This is a pointcloud. How to put colour etc is another story. Search for photosynth forums, this is a large subject,
  • I am new to meshlab. I import one of your sets and don't see anything. I can see the images in the layer window. Do I need to toggle something on to see the 3D object?

I dod the examples with 5 to 10mpix cameras, a few hunderd of photos was usually synthed ok. using more than 2mpix is probably an overkill as photosynth is downsampling the images using its own mysterious rules and keeps them like that.
  • This is really interesting.  Great work!

Im wondering if anyone has used Photomodeller to do this kind of thing?

Also, I may have missed it, but what is the size of the photos that you synthed?  In other words, is it possible to do this with 1-5 mpixel cameras?  What about photos extracted from a video taken with a key fob camera?
