I think that they are usign IR tracking and image processing on it. But still I'd say that it is fully autonomous they just hit GO button and quad jumps trough hole (most of the time).

Hmm i wonder how many quads has ended up to quad heaven along their work.. That safety net on walls tell something for us ;)

Like on our partner company here who try to create liquid battery, on their LAB they have "development stories" on wall all the way up to 6 meters... :)
  • I see IR tracking in that room - wonder if they use any of it to assist in the maneuvering or is it fully autonomous?

Impressive.. and challenging, seems like our quads have some minor things to catch. Oh behold wait and see ArduCopter and ArduBatics contest is coming.. Fly autonomously trough 3D maze. :)

Chris there's an idea later on after basic things are settled with AC.

Impressive, very impressive but also like Chris said, 100k grant moneys allows you to wreck few of them on doing it. But still.
  • I can see that thing chasing the perp. down a hall way! LOL
  • So it is all done by video? There is no autonomy involved?
  • That is very impressive. I wonder how scripted those actions are though. I also wonder how many attempts it took them to get it right ;-)

    OMG it's really CRAZY... awesome!
  • outstanding, amazing
  • Can't wait for the IR sensor version with fuel cell.

It looks like they're using one of those Hollywood indoor location systems with the banks of lights and sensor. I think that SLAM solution alone costs nearly $100k! Ah, research grants....
