  • It's interesting to think of how we could take control of UAVs from spies, thieves, oppressors, and the like.

  • Been so caught up in Lady Gaga scandals, forgot what Anonymous was.

  • Made in China again...

  • Bruce Schneier on encrypted video streams: http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2009/12/intercepting_pr.html

If a takeover were attempted, I wouldn't bet on the attacker gaining full control. The receiver probably just goes into failsafe like any other 2.4G receiver in conditions of interference. A bigger threat is simple jamming of the control signal.

  • Well, that's not the first time we've heard that live video feed from drones are not encrypted.  My suspicion is that it's not easy to create a lag free live encrypted video stream.  Sure Dish and DirectTV encrypt their streams, but that's pre-recorded stuff.  And the "live" streams are actually lagged by a few seconds, which is enough time to do the encryption.  But real-time live streams, not so easy.

  • The part that caught my eye was that the video and controls were not encrypted.  We'll have to see if anything comes of this.

  • I posted a link to a news story, not the actual site. I went there(to the real url) and got the anonymous vandalism and then it just wouldn't load. Should I run a virus scan?

  • I think their sight is being hacked right now, or it's down for repair. I just googled the company and got the hacker's page
