Hey J, It's not quite that simple and the naivete can cut both ways.
Without the direct and considerable support of DIYDrones, most of what we have just wouldn't exist.
The fact is American manufacturing can't compete with direct Chinese competition due to labor costs and the fact that we Americans subsidized the construction of a lot of Chinese factories that those same American companies no longer use to the fullest.
This leaves a lot of top quality new manufacturing space and equipment up for grabs in China and that is certainly an incentive for them to go direct whenever they can.
I don't blame the Chinese. The fault for this situation rests squarely on American business for moving that business to China in the first place and the Chinese are only trying to make a buck by whatever avenues are open to them.
In fact, beyond normal business interests we need to support DIYDrones and 3DRobotics because they actively support us far beyond their hardware that they make for us. It isn't simply a matter of altruism, it is a simple fact that if we lost them we would lose our primary advocate, supporter and voice.
Not saying don't buy the Chinese stuff, just when you can buy from the source that actually backs us, not the one just in it for the quick buck.
