Davey, it's simply been a matter of production trying to keep up with demand. The kits are cheaper and sell out faster than the pre-built versions, which is why you can sometimes only find the pre-built ones left--it's not a matter of retailers favoring one over the other.

Now that the factory in Bangkok is running at full capacity and Tijuana coming up to speed soon, I expect you won't have the same stock issues going forward.
  • Chris,

With respect, JDrones have had kit stock for less than a day. While I accept that at this exact moment in time I can buy a kit (and have done so from MartinT, see above), there have been cases at almost all resellers where the kits haven't been in stock for weeks... Unless you want a pre-built kit. This was the case for many weeks at JDrones. No-one appreciates the DIYD effort than me, and I'm all for a profit, but it seems when kits are in low stock, the only way to buy one is via a $300 assembly premium.

Davey: I'm not sure what you mean. Kits (not pre-built) are available at jDrones and at the DIYDrones store.

    @ Mr B Burner,

There is going to be four kits with me soon, I bought them this afternoon, not sure what the shipping turn around will be, but what I can let you know one has your name written all over it!

@Rana... thats what you say about everything!

  • It seems a real shame that with kits so hard to come by, so many DIYD resellers are making pre-built copters a priority. The only reason I can think is $$$ which is a shame as that wasnt the principal this community was built on.
  • What Motors, esc's and prop size do you use?  I have my frame now and I'm ready to actually assemble a quad.  Thanks.
