Alert, the version 2.0 is not working (at least for me) with arduino 14, only with arduino13
  • Is it just me or is everyone having problems trying to calibrate v2.0 ?
I usually find that if I use the reset button on the ardu it seems to calibrate more successfully- sometimes... Probably 1 out of 5 times before both elevator and rudder will respond to my hand next to the Thermopile??
Theres also a slight twitch on the rudder when on the ground... but when I feel its calibrated correctly it flys ok in RTL (it doesnt spiral into the ground which is the main thing)
  • Hum, reading all the info you have here?
  • I've got the plane, I've got the Ardupilot... Now what? Where do I get started?

The Arducopter is not an off -the-shelf retail product.
  • what about Arducopter? Where can I buy it?
  • I have a Graupner digital servo working great with ArduPilot or Arduino. Since they interpret the same Rx output, there shouldn't be any difference with an analog one. But I noticed they are much more sensible to refresh frequency variations than analog servos. In fact my digital servo did not react anymore when refresh rate was to slow, whether the analog servo (in a pan&tilt system) reacted ok.
  • Thanks Chris...here is a quick comparison of standard/digital servos.

Basically a digital has a microprocessor in it to reduce the deadband but take more power. You typically find these on high precision controls like the rudder on a Heli (or the elevator on the Apprentice) for fine control. Yes mine plug directly into the Specktrum Rx, so should work with your board I take it.

We've never tested ArduPilot with digital servos (in fact, we've never seen a digital servo!), but if they work with regular RC equipment, they should work with ArduPilot.
  • I am similar situation recent joinee with similar questions. I am also looking at working with one of the local schools for the UAV challenge in QLD Australia so any help or assistance would be appreciated
