Cheap keychain camera

Back in december there was this blog-post about a keychain camera. Today Hobbyking has launched a similar camera: . It does 640x480 at 30fps and co
mes with a 2GB SD card included.

Now, the camera in the blog post from December has a higher resolution than this new Turnigy camera. Hobbyking mentions that too, but says (fwiw): Other similar cameras have software AVI formatting to 720x480px,reducing clarity of the 640x480 native image from the lense. While this
sounds good on paper, it makes the movie less clear and enjoyable.

    Dimitar Perfect & Thanks!

I had not found the correct format to set date/time on my cameras (type #3) but found the correct format on the page you linked. As soon as I get my tandem together I'll post an example.
  • @ CrashingDutchman:
These photos are extracted from a movie.
  • The white spots in the second photo are ducks.
  • Hmm. No I removed my affiliate links and Wallace puts a few in his comment.

@Curtiss Chiang: Are these stills or extracts from a movie?
  • This kind of camera is popular for RC hobbyist in my country. I bought two from local online shop. It is cheap and very light-weighted. The quality is good enought. Here are some clips.

  • any one got the version of hobbyking? i guess they are selling #2 version of this camera. but must be confirmed for users.

i wonder why people always put a demo video with the yellow OSD, those are clearly videos from #3 version, wich upscale the image to 740x480, and hobbycity says clearly 640x480.

in my opinion version #3 is the best one, and it has the best audio quality, but i must wait for a sample video done with the model sold at HK...

no one got it? purchased from HK,

    Thnkss
  • I have changed the link. It is not hidden anymore and the affiliate part has been removed.

I didn't want to start a controversy here and I didn't track for marketing value. I am just interested to see how many people click this link. Believe it or not.
  • I think evil is a bit strong but be honest about things like that. There is far too much of this going on in UAV field recently, why can't people do things for the fun of it any more? Post a link because it is useful not just to make money from it, why do you want to track clicks? Obviously to see what marketing value DIYDrones has for you.

This site has changed, it used to be about the fun of learning and sharing but now it appears to be about making money much more. There is a lot less DIY here now, it is mostly about productising items and dollars, what a pity.
  • Here is a link to site with all kind of information that probably is usable for this camera: http://chucklohr.com/808/#DateTimeRemoval

  • @Angus,

Why evil? The reason that I use an URL shortening service is that I want to track how many people click that link. I also posted this on my twitter (http://www.twitter.com/crashindutchman) and my blog (http://www.rc-international.info). From about 157 people that (currently) maybe 4 people bought the camera. Maybe I make a buck or 2...
