Hello everybody,

Yesterday I successfully supported my diploma thesis on the development of a UAS. It was an all-around research, from navigation algorithms to hardware development. In all, the nature of the thesis was an experimental one.

The .pdf can be found on this Dropbox link, as I had problems with uploading the .pdf on the diydrones servers. If a mod could help me on this I would be grateful.

EDIT: Here is the permanent link for my thesis, in the library server.

If you care to open it, make sure you read the Acknowledgment. The body of the text is in English, don't be put off by the Greek first few pages.

The level of the thesis was quite basic, but the adventure continues onto my PhD.

Very nice! The writing is clear, and it provides a very good introduction to the field. Well done!

Have you thought about what you want to work on for your PhD?

Cheers, Tridge

Thank you for your nice comments.

For the first two years, I will be involved in the development of a full-fledged autopilot module for a new civilian UAV, in a joint project. It will involve testing the algorithms in 2.7m and 3.5m model airplanes which has got me excited!

Other partners will be responsible for designing and building the airframe, vision systems and communications.

Afterwards, we 'll see about the main core of the PhD. The professor hints towards aggressive maneuvering, but it's too early to decide.

Thank you all.

I try to give back to the community of diydrones when I can. This site and suasnews.com are by now my daily newspaper reads and keep me up to date with the UAV world.

I added the permanent link for my thesis in the blog post. The Dropbox one is broken by now, but the new one is from the university library, which hosts the file.
